Wedding celebration at The Alexander Rochester

A Wedding That Feels Like Yours

Ceremony, reception, and a kitchen that cooks your dinner to order—all in a Victorian mansion on Alexander Street.

A Place With a Past

Historic Character

The Alexander occupies a Victorian mansion that has stood on Alexander Street for more than 140 years. Original hardwood floors run from the entry through every dining room. The turret—an architectural detail that most buildings lost decades ago—is still here, still round, still catching afternoon light from three sides. When you walk in, you feel the weight of the building. That's not an accident. It's the point.

Your dinner is cooked to order in a real restaurant kitchen by a team that does this every night—not a catering operation that sets up in a rented space. The menu draws from seasonal Finger Lakes ingredients, and every plate leaves the pass the way the chef intended. This is what sets The Alexander apart from venues that hand you a banquet menu and a chafing dish.

From first inquiry to final toast, one coordinator manages your event. Not a sales team. Not a rotating cast. One person who knows your preferences, your timeline, and your family's dietary restrictions by name. And the space itself bends to fit: the Turret Room seats 16 for an intimate ceremony, the Tonga Room holds 45 for cocktail hour, and the Main Dining Room opens up for 80 seated guests—or combine them all for a full venue buyout of up to 150.

Choose Your Cuisine

The Alexander is part of a family of eight Rochester restaurants. For your wedding, that means your menu can feature Italian from Vern's, Mexican from Dorado, French from Roux—or the New American cuisine our kitchen is known for.

Want a late-night taco bar from Dorado after the dancing starts? Artisan bread from Pearson's on every table? It's all from kitchens we own.

The room changes. Candles replace daylight. The building settles into the version of itself it was made for.

Common Questions

How far in advance should we book?
We recommend booking 9-12 months in advance for Saturday weddings, though we occasionally have last-minute availability. Weekday and Sunday events typically have more flexibility.
Can we have our ceremony here?
Yes! The Turret Room is a beautiful ceremony space, or we can configure the main room for both ceremony and reception.
Do you have a preferred vendor list?
We have partners we love working with, but you're welcome to bring your own vendors. We're happy to make recommendations for photographers, florists, DJs, and more.
Is there a food & beverage minimum?
Yes, minimums vary by day of week and season. We'll provide specific details when you request a proposal.

Your wedding day has a hundred decisions. The venue shouldn't be the hard one.
