Our Story
A Victorian mansion on Rochester's Alexander Street
Open for dinner Wednesday through Saturday. Private events by inquiry. Part of the Swan Family of Restaurants.
A Rochester Landmark
Our home is an 1880s Victorian mansion that has been part of Rochester's story for over 140 years. Through thoughtful restoration, we've preserved the architectural details that make this space special — original hardwood floors, distinctive turret rooms, and period moldings — while creating a warm, modern dining experience.
From its years as Rio Bamba to its current chapter as The Alexander, this building has been part of Rochester's gathering places for generations.
Kitchen & Bar
Our kitchen works with Finger Lakes farmers to bring seasonal ingredients to your table — thoughtfully prepared, never overwrought. Our bar program celebrates the craft, from house-made syrups to carefully curated wines.
Our kitchen is led by Chef Tony, whose seasonal menus draw on local Finger Lakes produce and change with what's best each week.
Part of the Swan Family
The Alexander is part of the Swan Family of Restaurants — nine kitchens across Rochester. For private events, that means access to nine cuisines: Italian from Vern's, Mexican from Dorado, French from Roux — whatever fits the evening.
A Different Energy
Candles lit. Conversation low. The room settles into something quieter.
